Capicua’s voice

Capicua is rapper Ana Matos Fernandes’ alter ego. ‘Sereia Louca’, her last album, voices women’s issues – her work’s leitmotiv – and her concerns about ageing. Her vocabulary is inspiring and evocative. Music programme ‘O Som das Estrelas’, featuring Ana, aka Capicua, is on this Saturday, the 14th, 22:00, at Rivoli. Mandatory!

Jim Jarmusch in Campo Alegre

Starting this Thursday, Teatro Municipal do Campo Alegre is promoting a cinema programme showcasing film director Jim Jarmusch’s work. We recommend two of these sessions: “Stranger than Paradise”, which premiered in Cannes in 1984 as his first film, despite being his second, where it won the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs ’Camera d’Or’ award, and ‘Mystery Train’, first depart from his trademark black-and-white photography. A must see!

Picnicking & reading at Parque da Cidade

In June Bairro dos Livros trades in the city centre for Parque da Cidade.  This time around the monthly event, which promotes both books and reading in bookshops and secondhand bookshops in the city centre, moves west. The spotlight is now on picnic blankets as well as books - ‘Reading is a picnic’ is its outdoor, summer mode motto. Saturday, the 18th, 12:00 to 18:00.
