Ayres Gonçalo

Ayres Gonçalo challenges tailoring. His career began early, at the age of 16, when, after growing up surrounded by needles and fabrics, he decided to work with his grandfather, the famous tailor, Ayres Carneiro da Silva. His restless and adventurous spirit led him to Madrid. There he took a course in tailoring at the Sociedad de Sastres de España while simultaneously working with the prestigious tailor, Pedro Muñoz. Later, he headed to London, where he worked for four years at the famous tailoring company, Gieves & Hawkes, on Savile Row, the famous tailors’ road. This remarkable experience in his career was enhanced by the opportunity to tailor a suit for Prince Charles.

After traveling and working in various parts of the world, he finally returned to Porto looking for a better quality of life. It is in his hometown that he finds the tranquility and well-being that contribute to his success. He knows that being in Porto allows him to be a better tailor. His downtown atelier allows him to feel close to the production and materials and enables him to provide a better service to suit his customers.
